Description

Home on the Range has quite the history! The property was homesteaded by Native Indians that had previously been living in Yosemite Valley. At about the turn of the century, the U.S. Calvary relocated them to this area. Home on the Range has held many reunions for those native people. In addition, the infamous Harlow Fire ripped through the property on its way to Oakhurst. The barn, which is still visible from the back porch, survived the fire because all the animals the Indian homesteaders had all around it ate the flammable vegetation! Over the years the property has been home to cattle and much wildlife. You will likely see them during your stay! To be in a place with such a history is palpable. The South Gate of Yosemite is 24 miles away, Bass Lake is 15, and Mariposa is 19. Come experience our Home on the Range with a bit of a vintage vibe!

Enjoyed our stay

Thanks for hosting us. We really enjoyed staying at your place. The house is clean, spacious and close to nature. The fireplace is very warm. You can see cows, horses, deer when you drive around.

Definitely one of the best!

Check in was effortless. Fantastic rental away from all the hustle and bustle yet close to town for groceries and activities. The house was spotless and well resourced. Communication throughout the day without being intrusive. The heat was turned on before our arrival. Much needed after a few months of travel. This property was definitely one of the best out of all our stays.

Stay at Ahwahnee

House was perfectly located, living room, kitchen, bedroom were nice, the master bathroom was showing its age. It was great to awake to the sound of livestock.

Beautiful place to stay

Home on The Range was a beautiful place to stay with its ranch esthetic and nature scenery. The home although a little outdated in some areas (sink, ac, cabinets, tv, and showers), it was beautiful with its Native & American culture decor. Being surrounded by the horses, donkeys, cows, squirrels, quail etc. was such a delight way to get away from the city. Some things to consider a little bad from the stay was being woken up sometimes by woodpeckers, outdated resources and or appliances and some necessities. Aside from that I would totally love to stay at this site again, it’s truly a place worthy of its stay and the name “Home on The Range.”

Perfect place for our family!

Home on the Range was the perfect place for our family of five. My son already asked when we could go back. They enjoyed seeing and hearing the cows and horses and just having room to run and explore. We were close enough to Yosemite and Bass Lake that we visited both during our stay. The house was very clean and suitable for our stay. Great communication by the host. We absolutely recommend Home on the Range when you come to visit Yosemite, we plan on returning soon!
